we took a 1990's model home and created a space that's modern, light and airy. the garage was blown out to add on some square footage for the kitchen, and also an additional entry/mudroom area and laundry relocation. the old laundry is now a bar - i'd say that's a great trade. at the end of the day, it's all about having a good floor plan and design for your new space. check out the blog for more detail, sources and before & after photos.
